The Dogs’ Homes of Tasmania AmbassaDogs welcome celebrity Ambassador Lisa Gormley, Australian Actor to the team.

AmbassaDog Mr eNormous (Norm) is pleased to announce that Lisa Gormley is to become the Dogs’ Homes of Tasmania’s first two-legged Ambassador!

As a dog lover and Tasmanian, Lisa is a passionate supporter of the rescue dogs at the Dogs’ Homes of Tasmania.  Dogs’ Homes CEO Michael Sertori said “Lisa is a committed advocate who deeply understands the bond we share with dogs as individuals but also how dogs contribute more broadly to our community. We are grateful for the support she will lend, helping the Dogs’ Homes give a voice to unwanted and lost dogs and I am delighted she has agreed to join as Ambassador”

One of Lisa’s first roles will be helping to spread the word about the Dogs’ Homes of Tasmania’s 2021 Winter Appeal.

“I am excited to support the Dogs’ Homes of Tasmania Winter Appeal. It gives me an opportunity to help other dogs like Sasha find their perfect

homes. “

Growing up, rescue dogs were always part of Lisa’s life, so when Lisa and her partner decided it was time to add a dog to their family it was a natural choice to “adopt not shop”.

Following the Dogs’ Home Facebook page during the 2020 COVID lockdown, Lisa spotted Sasha, a 3 year old Staffy cross. Lisa visited the Hobart Dogs’ Home to say hello to this gorgeous girl and it soon became clear she had found “the one”. Sasha had found her new home.

“There’s such a powerful connection between dogs and humans, and they do so much for us, not just in our families but in society as a whole.  We owe it to all dogs to do our best to care for them when they are in need.”

Like many new adopters, Lisa thought about giving her new friend a new name, but when she found out the meaning of Sasha: “the protector and keeper of mankind “, she knew that Sasha already had the perfect name.

Wherever Sasha is found  with Lisa – asleep on a chair at work, zooming around the Tasmanian bush, playing with other dogs at the dog beach, visiting a cafe with friends, or asleep by the fire at home – Sasha is truly Lisa’s beloved friend and keeper.

Born in Yorkshire, UK, Lisa grew up in Tasmania and attended Woodbridge District High and Rosny College. She is perhaps best known for her role as Bianca Scott in the long running TV series Home and Away, but Lisa is also an acting tutor and casting director.

P.S: With tax time just around the corner, big Norm would like to  remind supporters of the EOFY tax deduction for donations.  Norm says, “Follow this link to keep my fellow canines warm and dry this winter and help with veterinary care.”
