Sher takes life’s final steps embraced by love
Leonie, one of the Dogs’ Homes most generous supporters, writes to us in loving memory of Sher, a “foster fail” who joined the Rainbow Bridge Chapter of the Dogs’ Homes Family in May:
“Precious Sher,” she writes. “We fostered you three years ago, fell in love with you and adopted you six days later. We only had two years and nine months with you before we had to say goodbye. We loved every moment we had together, and crammed so much fun into your life with us. We miss you so much, beautiful girl, but know you are in a beautiful place over the Rainbow Bridge.
“She was gone too young, too soon, so suddenly, and we are so heartbroken. Until we meet again, my big, beautiful girl. A huge thank you to the fantastic staff at the Tasmanian Veterinary Hospital at Sorell for their care, tenderness and support.”
Sher and her fur sibling Holly went on all sorts of adventures together, even covering more than 35,000km touring Australia.
A staff member spoke in glowing terms about Leonie, and her relationship with Sher.
“Leonie is amazing,” she said. “She’s one of our biggest fans. She shares our online content every single day, she donates, she comes out to visit, and she always fundraises for us. She is the type of person that I could call and say we need help and she would be there in an instant — she’s incredibly reliable.
“As for Sher, they had an INCREDIBLY DEEP connection. I meet a lot of people who love their dogs. Leonie is right up there! I know how connected they were. They were soulmates.”
