Wait, what? Cats at a Dogs’ Home?!
Just Cats Tasmania has officially moved into our caretaker cottage at the Burnie Dogs’ Home!
In a delightful twist that proves cats and dogs can indeed get along, we’re thrilled to announce that Just Cats Tasmania has moved into our caretaker cottage at the Burnie Dogs’ Home site! This exciting development means the Burnie community finally has access to a local cat adoption service — something that’s been missing for far too long.
Just Cats Tasmania is a passionate, not-for-profit cat rescue and rehoming organisation dedicated to giving abandoned and homeless cats a second chance. They work tirelessly to ensure every cat in their care finds a loving home, providing medical treatment, desexing, microchipping, and plenty of TLC along the way.
Right now, their Burnie site is in stage one, meaning they are open for adoptions only. While they’d love to be able to take in surrenders, that will depend on securing enough funding in the future.

Regular opening hours:
🐱 Thursday to Tuesday: 11 am – 3 pm
🐱 Sunday: 11 am – 2 pm
🐱 Closed Wednesdays
If you’d like to support Just Cats in their mission, their Burnie site is accepting donations of much-needed items, including:
✅ Wet cat food (any brand — this supplements their core dry food diet)
✅ Bleach (for cleaning and maintaining a hygienic environment)
✅ Paper plates (for feeding the cats)
✅ Paper towel (for cleaning up after the mischievous felines!)
We’re so excited to have Just Cats as part of the Burnie site — because cats and dogs might not always see eye to eye, but when it comes to rescue, we’re all on the same team! 🐶🐱
