Hobart Dogs

Dogs at our Hobart Home

The dogs below are waiting for adoption from our Hobart Home. If you’re interested in adopting one of these dogs, please click the link below to make an appointment to visit the Home. Dogs are being adopted throughout the day, and while we try and update Facebook and the website as soon as a dog is adopted, we cannot guarantee that any particular dog will still be there when you visit.

We only take visitors by appointment. This helps us to limit the amount of people in the adoption area, reducing stress on the dogs. Bookings can only be made on the day and for two days ahead.

Frank should have been in Led Zeppelin, because everything we hear about this guy points to him having a whole lotta love.

Frank’s a Foxhound-Brittany Spaniel x who is a year old and weighs 38kg as of March 2024. “Frank is such a loving dog,” we’re told. “He’s got a lovely demeanour. He’s a beautiful, sweet boy with a lot of love to give.

“He loves his people and playing. He’s extremely clumsy, loves cuddles, food, and climbing on your shoulders. He loves being carried if you can hold him and is basically a giant lap dog.” See? That IS a lotta love.

We're told Frank knows sit, stop, go, wait and and lie down, comes when called, and is toilet trained. He's still an overgrown puppy in many ways and can let his excitement overwhelm him when people are about. He's going to need a family who can provide him with some training and guidance to help him become a polite young dog.

Frank has lived with another dog he got on well with and has been social with other dogs at our Homes, so he might like a doggy mate to keep him company in his new home. He's not suitable for a home with cats.

Daisy looks like a right worrywart in her main picture. But we all know looks can be deceiving.

She’s a Staffy-Mastiff-Bulldog x who weighs 17.5kg and will be one year old at the end of October. We are told she knows sit, comes when called and is toilet trained.

“Daisy has a lovely smile (which we didn’t manage to capture) — she gives a cheeky grin with a lip curl,” staff at our Hobart Home say. “She is energetic and can be a bit jumpy and silly. She will need more guidance and training.”

We are told she likes toys of all varieties. She lived with children of all ages in her past life, but hasn’t lived with any other companion animals. As mentioned, she will need further training and socialisation with people and other dogs.

Behold the floppy ear club!

Girls Maddy and Iris, and their brother Odie, are an intriguing mix of Whippet-Bull Mastiff crosses. Oh to be a fly on the wall for that pairing. We expect them to be bigger than your average Whippet when fully grown. They will be three months old on May 20.

These cuties have been in foster care on Bruny Island, going on lots of walks and exploring.

“They feel the cold so have extra blankies and I've given them a deep-sided cosy bed for them to snuggle up together,” our kind foster carer said. “They won't suit ‘outdoors’ homes. They are lovely pups who love plenty of attention and their walkies.” You can see a picture of the kids snuggled up together in the comments.

The pups are an ideal age to start obedience training. They’ll need socialisation with humans and other dogs, and gentle introductions to the adventures life has to offer.

We know it’s the wrong franchise, but Dumbledore looks more like a Gandalf to us.

This magical little man is a Maltese-Shih Tzu-Toy Poodle x who weighs 7kg and will be nine years old in September. We are told he knows sit and stay, comes when called, and is toilet trained. He’s used to taking himself outside through a doggy door.

As an older boy, we’re seeking a quiet and relaxed home for him to chill in as he heads towards his retirement years. As such, we think he’d best go to a home with children over 12 years old.

He’s had a fair bit of dental work since he’s been with us, including some extractions, so his breath is minty fresh.

Doesn’t Scooter look like a truckload of fun?

This scruff muffin is a Border Collie-Kelpie x who weighs 22.5kg and will be two years old in December. We’re told he knows sit and comes when called, but that’s just about it. He’s not toilet trained.

There is good news on the training front: “Scooter is very food motivated so he will be a keen learner through his stomach,” staff say. He’s also clever enough to have mastered opening doors with lever-style handles!

“He has long legs and is covered in scruffy, wiry hair,” they say. “This young boy is looking for a home where he can get his silliness out.”

Scooter lived with children in his past life, and other dogs. As mentioned, this smart but silly boy will need training but should take to it with gusto. As a mix of two working dog breeds, he’ll also need plenty of exercise and mental stimulation.
