A new way to support our dogs — through recycling
On 1 May 2025, Tasmania officially launched the Recycle Rewards program — an exciting new initiative that not only helps clean up our beautiful island but also gives you a new way to support the work we do here at Dogs’ Homes of Tasmania.
Under the scheme, you’ll receive a 10¢ refund for every eligible drink container you return to one of the 49 designated refund points across Tasmania, including on King and Flinders Islands. But here’s the best part: at selected locations, you can now choose to donate your refund directly to Dogs’ Homes of Tasmania.
That’s right — every can or bottle you return could help provide food, shelter, medical care, and a second chance for a dog in need.
How it works — two easy ways to donate
Getting involved is easy:
Use the Recycle Rewards app
Download the free app, select Dogs’ Homes of Tasmania under the charity section, and scan your unique barcode at the machine to donate your refund directly.
You can choose to support us just once, or every time — and you can easily switch between us, other charities, or receiving the payout yourself.

Every year, thousands of dogs come into our care, each with their own story. Some have been lost or abandoned. Others have been surrendered through no fault of their own.
