Expressions of Interest

The dogs pictured here are available for adoption by Expression of Interest (EOI) only. These dogs are not available for viewing or meet and greets in our Adoption area without the submission of an EOI. There are many reasons why a dog is available by EOI only. Reasons can include being in foster care, having extra special needs (eg. a senior) or we expect them to be so popular that half the state will book to visit them!

To place an EOI, please click on the link at the bottom of the page. Staff will review your application and make contact with you to arrange a meeting with the dog if they believe you might be a good fit.

Please note:

  • we can only accept EOIs under the correct dogs name. Please don’t select another dog’s name in the drop down menu.
  • if you cannot see a dog’s name in the list, it’s because we have hit the max number of EOIs that we are able to accept for that dog  and we unable to take any further.
  • due to the number of EOIs that we receive, we may not be able to respond to unsuccessful applicants.
  • we understand you may want to increase your chances of being selected as a new fur parent, but contacting us to reiterate information in your application only takes us away from our doggie duties and does not increase your chances.

Thank you for your understanding.

Are you the type of person who likes to buy in bulk and get more bang for your buck? Tiger offers many more kilos than the average for his adoption price.

He’s a Mastiff x who is four years old and weighs a very impressive 55kg. We’re told he knows sit and “bed”, comes when called, and is mostly toilet trained.

Tiger needed eye surgery when he came into our care, and then spent some time in foster care recovering. “He has been a fantastic boy with us, and an absolute gem with all his vet checks and meds in his eye,” our foster care co-ordination guru said. Tiger is a people-focused dog who aims to please.

“For a 55kg boy, he is actually very gentle,” our foster carer said. “For a dog who I think has always been an outside dog, he only made one mistake inside on his first day. He’s gentle as a lamb to walk and will be a great addition to someone's family.” He’s even been going on evening strolls with a 10-year-old Beagle lady. Does that mean Tiger has a “cougar” girlfriend?

Every dog is desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, treated for fleas and worms, and has had a standard health check. Each dog has also been behaviourally assessed.

If you are interested in meeting Tiger, please use the link below to submit an expression of interest. Please include as much detail as you can about the life you could provide for a new dog. Staff from our Hobart Home will contact those suitable to chat and arrange an appointment.

Buddy’s gorgeous coat literally gleams in the sunlight. Someone’s been getting his fish oil!

This handsome lad is a German Shorthaired Pointer-Smithfield x who weighs 24.5kg and will be a year old in September. He hasn’t had much in the way of training but we’re told he comes when called and is toilet trained.

He’s been spending some time in foster care where he’s happily interacted with another dog. He lived with a small dog in his past life. He’s also lived with children before and has been around them in foster care as well.

Buddy has been learning his training basics, but as with any dog will need ongoing training. He’s a mix of two energetic breeds and will require plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. He’s not suitable for a home with cats or other small animals.

🐾 Energetic mix
🐾 Young fellow

Handsome Alfie looks to be almost bursting with enthusiasm for life, with his bright eyes and frankly over-the-top ears.

Alfie is a Border Collie-Smithfield x who weighs 20kg and will be a year old in May. We’re told he knows sit, heel and walk, and is toilet trained.

Staff at our Hobart Home confirmed this, saying he is a “young, playful, happy boy” who will sit for treats. Ongoing training will be important at his age.

He hasn’t lived with children but has lived with other dogs, although he tends to want all the attention to himself so may do best as the sole dog in his new home. He hasn’t lived with any other pets. He will need ongoing socialisation with other dogs, and people too.

Alfie enjoys going for car rides and likes a splash under the garden sprinkler.
We’re told he loves to sleep near his humans at night. Aww, Alfie! As a mix of two brainy, working dog breeds, Alfie will need plenty of mental stimulation and exercise.

Malibu is such an appealing girl with her gorgeous white patches speckled with red freckles.

She's a Staffy x who weighs 30kg and will be two years old on Remembrance Day. She hasn’t had much in the way of training but we are told she knows sit, comes when called and is toilet trained.

“She is sweet-natured dog who is playful and energetic,” staff at our Hobart Home say. She likes playing with water and also enjoys getting a squirt from a garden hose.

She lived with another dog in the past that she was friendly with — she particularly enjoys playing chasings — so she might like a canine companion in her new home. She hasn’t lived with children.

Pluto is described as a “goofy boy” in his notes. Someone’s getting their cartoon dogs confused.

He’s such an intergalactic man of mystery we don’t even know what part of the solar system he came from. He looks to be a Great Dane x who we think is about six months old. He weighs 33.5kg — but there’s quite the story to be told there.

“Pluto came in as an emaciated stray,” our foster care co-ordination guru says. “Staff have worked so hard to get him back to where he should be. He has been spending some time in foster care to continue this, and will stay in foster care until he’s adopted.

“He will need to continue to gain weight and his diet will be very important — it must be a high-quality food. He has gained more than 11kg with us, and this needs to continue. He is learning that food is a regular meal (he has five small meals a day), and he can slow down and enjoy it.”

Pluto can be a bit of a mouthy pup at times, but he is learning not to do this. He will need ongoing training and socialisation with people and other dogs. He will be an extra-large dog once fully grown.

🐾 Mysterious past
🐾 Goofy kind of guy
🐾 Weight gain goals
🐾 Needs training …
🐾 And socialisation

Frank should have been in Led Zeppelin, because everything we hear about this guy points to him having a whole lotta love.

Frank’s a Foxhound-Brittany Spaniel x who is a year old and weighs 38kg as of March 2024. “Frank is such a loving dog,” we’re told. “He’s got a lovely demeanour. He’s a beautiful, sweet boy with a lot of love to give.

“He loves his people and playing. He’s extremely clumsy, loves cuddles, food, and climbing on your shoulders. He loves being carried if you can hold him and is basically a giant lap dog.” See? That IS a lotta love.

We're told Frank knows sit, stop, go, wait and and lie down, comes when called, and is toilet trained. He's still an overgrown puppy in many ways and can let his excitement overwhelm him when people are about. He's going to need a family who can provide him with some training and guidance to help him become a polite young dog.

Frank has lived with another dog he got on well with and has been social with other dogs at our Homes, so he might like a doggy mate to keep him company in his new home. He's not suitable for a home with cats.

🐾 Loving boy
🐾 Loves people
🐾 Needs training

🐾 Dumbledore is unwell and is in the hands of our vet team. We will update his post when we know more. Please don't contact our Hobart Home about him as it takes us away from our doggie duties. 🐾

We know it’s the wrong franchise, but Dumbledore looks more like a Gandalf to us.

This magical little man is a Maltese-Shih Tzu-Toy Poodle x who weighs 7kg and will be nine years old in September. We are told he knows sit and stay, comes when called, and is toilet trained. He’s used to taking himself outside through a doggy door.

As an older boy, we’re seeking a quiet and relaxed home for him to chill in as he heads towards his retirement years. As such, we think he’d best go to a home with children over 12 years old.

He’s had a fair bit of dental work since he’s been with us, including some extractions, so his breath is minty fresh.

🐾 Magical man
🐾 Some training
🐾 Quiet home
🐾 Dental done!

Will you let Monkey cast his magic over you? You could fly home on a cloud of love.

Monkey was a stray so we can only speculate about his history. We think he’s a Beagle-Staffy x who is about five months old and currently weighs about 16kg, with some size to put on. See some more pix of him in the comments. He’s been spending some time in foster care where he had about five thousand toys to play with.

“He loves having company and is happy to follow you around,” our foster care guru says. “He enjoys playing with other dogs and tug of war games.”

“Monkey is just a delight to have around,” his foster carer says. “He has learnt to use the doggy door and has had only one boo-boo inside. He loves to follow and copy his foster sisters which has made his training a lot easier.

“He loves playing as much as he loves his snuggles. He is very obedient — he knows sit and stay, and comes when called. He walks like a champion on the lead."

Monkey is on a great training and socialisation path already that should be continued into adulthood.

🐾 Monkey magic!

Look closely: Rufus is sporting a very impressive moustache that would give Tom Selleck a run for his money.

Rufus was a stray so we can only speculate about his breeding. He’s believed to be a Foxhound about 18 months old. He weighs about 29kg. We don’t know where he is with his obedience or toilet training.

Staff at our Burnie Home say he’s a “typical hound who likes to do his own thing”. He has been in a yard with another Burnie dog and is happy to play or chill out, so he might like an equally chillaxed canine friend in his new home.

Rufus — the doofus — can be a little strong on a lead. At his age he is still a very good candidate for obedience training. Treat-based training can be a powerful motivator for dogs, along with plenty of praise to make them feel like the most special dog in the world.
