Expressions of Interest

Dogs in foster care | Expressions of interest only

The dogs pictured here are available for adoption by Expression of Interest (EOI) only. These dogs are not available for viewing or ‘meet and greets’ in our Adoption area without the submission of an EOI.

This is because they are in foster care and we will need to coordinate for their carer to return them for a meet. Occasionally, dogs listed here may not be in foster care, but may have some extra special needs (eg. a senior), so we ask that you submit an expression of interest so that we can assess suitability prior to a visit.

To place an EOI, please click on the link at the bottom of the page. Staff will review your application and make contact with you to arrange a meeting with the dog if they believe you might be a good fit.

Please note:

  • we can only accept EOIs under the correct dogs name. Please don’t select another dog’s name in the drop down menu.
  • if you cannot see a dog’s name in the list, it’s because we have hit the max number of EOIs that we are able to accept for that dog  and we unable to take any further.
  • due to the number of EOIs that we receive, we may not be able to respond to unsuccessful applicants.
  • we understand you may want to increase your chances of being selected as a new fur parent, but contacting us to reiterate information in your application only takes us away from our doggie duties and does not increase your chances.

Thank you for your understanding.

Prince is part of our eclectic supergroup of puppies. Brother Elvis has been adopted, while Sting and Bowie are still available by appointments.

Prince has gone into foster care which is why he is available by expressions of interest. The pups came to us as strays, so we haven’t got any information on them. We think they are Spaniel-Kelpie x pups who are about 11 weeks old now.

As with all pups, Prince will need socialisation with people and other dogs, along with training. On that front, puppy preschool is a great way for your dog to learn the “boot camp basics”. It’s also a positive socialisation experience as they get to meet a wide range of humans and other pups.

And if your preferred vet centre offers puppy preschool classes, they will associate going to the vet with fun times rather than having to be dragged through the door!

🐾 Party like it’s 1999
🐾 Lifetime of love …
🐾 And responsibility
🐾 Needs training …
🐾 And socialisation

Every dog is desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, treated for fleas and worms, and has had a standard health check. Each dog has also been behaviourally assessed.

If you are interested in meeting Prince, please use the link below to submit an expression of interest. Please include as much detail as you can about the life you could provide for a new dog. Staff from our Burnie Home will contact those suitable to chat and arrange an appointment.

Doesn’t Scooter look like a truckload of fun?

This scruff muffin is a Border Collie-Kelpie x who weighs 22.5kg and will be two years old in December. We’re told he knows sit and comes when called, but that’s just about it. He’s not toilet trained.

There is good news on the training front: “Scooter is very food motivated so he will be a keen learner through his stomach,” staff say. He’s also clever enough to have mastered opening doors with lever-style handles!

“He has long legs and is covered in scruffy, wiry hair,” they say. “This young boy is looking for a home where he can get his silliness out.”

Scooter lived with children in his past life, and other dogs. Ideally he should go to a home where he has a doggy companion to keep him company as he doesn't like to be left on his own.

As mentioned, this smart but silly boy will need training but should take to it with gusto. As a mix of two working dog breeds, he’ll also need plenty of exercise and mental stimulation.

Rupert has done a Donald Trump and gone slightly overboard with his orange-toned fake tan.

He’s a Spaniel-Hound x who weighs 21.5kg and will be a year old in October. We’re told he knows sit and lie down, and comes when called. He isn’t toilet trained.

“Rupert is young, energetic and enthusiastic,” staff say. “He is food motivated.” That bodes well for the further training Rupert needs.

“Rupert loves going for walks and runs on the beach,” his information says. “He would enjoy a home with a lot of land for him to run around. He adores a belly scratch and loves to play.”

He hasn’t lived with any other animals and didn’t have a great deal of interaction with the children in his previous home, so we expect he’ll need some socialisation with people of all ages, and gentle introductions to other dogs.

🐾 Just a youngster

McSquizzy has a very interesting name. He gets called Squizzy for short — anyone else reminded of an infamous Australian gangster? We’re sure McSquiz doesn’t have a gangster bone in his body.

He’s a Beagle who will be five years old in late November and weighs 25kg. “He will need an owner who will help him loose a few kilos as he has a winter belly,” some wit at our Hobart Home joked. We’re told he knows sit, comes when called, and is toilet trained.

“McSquizzy is coming out of his shell each day at our Home,” staff also said. “He’s a typical Beagle who loves a good sniff. He’s not used to being around young children or handled much, so he’d best go to a home with no one under their teenage years.” He has lived with another dog in the past.

🐾 Frankie is having some time out to recover from dental work and is now available by online expressions of interest 🐾

Frankie is yet another dog who looks like a house elf who has just been presented with clothes.

We think she’s some kind of mixed Pointer x who is about seven years old. We can say with certainty that she weighs 26.5kg. Frankie was surrendered to us by someone who found her roaming, who reported she was toilet trained and would come when called.

“She’s friendly, affectionate and cuddly, and loves attention,” her rescuer said. Frankie got on well with her rescuer’s larger dog but not so well with their smaller one. It may be that if Frankie goes to a home with another dog they should be of a similar size.

“Frankie has shown a quiet nature while with us,” staff say. “She is a mature lady looking for a home where she can enjoy the simple life.”

🔊 Boots was adopted 25/6/24! ❤🐾

We can see how Boots got her name but Khalisi’s Game of Thrones tie-in has us stumped.

These girls are Mastiff x pups born on 16 February. They both weigh about 8kg now, but they have plenty of size to put on yet. Like all pups, they are playful and full of energy (until they crash in a heap, that is).

They will need socialisation with people and other dogs, plus ongoing obedience work, along with toilet training, which can start immediately.

Puppy preschool is a fun way for your puppy — and you — to learn all about training, and a great way to bond with your new family member. It also helps hit your dog’s socialisation goals through positive experiences with people and other puppies.
