Aly

Aly

Do you like your dogs pocket rocket-sized and kind of weird? Aly is your man! This guy smiles with his mouth open and his lips rolled back to show his teefs and gums. It looks a little alarming to the uninitiated but is just his way of expressing his joy.

We have been underwhelmed with information about Aly, who also does a great meerkat impression, but staff have filled in some blanks. “He can be a bit unsure at first with new people but then just wants to climb on your lap,” they say. “He loves to be on your lap or follow you around. When he gets comfortable with you he likes to roll in the grass.”

We think Aly G would do best in a calm and quiet home, with not too many comings and goings to disturb his karmic flow.

Please ensure the below information, including the ‘please note’ section, is read in full if you are interested in viewing, meeting or adopting Aly.

Tasmanian dogs need you

Dogs’ Homes of Tasmania receives no government funding. Dogs like Aly get their second chance because somebody like you donated.

Even a $5 donation today can help save the next life. We wouldn’t be here for Tassie dogs without the generosity of our donors.

All donations currently matched — please donate now!

For the next 48 hours, a generous Tasmanian donor will MATCH every donation — dollar for dollar — up to $50,000. Please, dogs like Aly are relying on you.

If you are interested in a dog, please make a booking to visit the Home where that dog is located. We can’t guarantee that a particular dog will still be available at the time of your visit, as adoptions occur throughout the day. Our team updates the website as quickly as possible.

Your booking is simply an allocated time to view all of the dogs, and it allows us to ensure staff are available should you wish to have a meet and greet with a particular dog.

Please remember that if you are interested in adopting on the day, all household members — including any existing dogs — must attend the appointment. It’s vital that the dog meets everyone and gets along with them, and that the whole household is ready to welcome a new family member.

Please note:
• Rental agreements allowing dogs will be required for adoption into rental properties.
• Before adopting a dog, all members of your household must attend a meet and greet with the dog (including small children and existing dogs).
• Whilst the website is live and updates frequently, there is a chance that when you arrive a dog may already have been adopted by some-one else. Sorry, but we cannot put dogs on hold over the phone. You need to meet them first so that we can ensure a suitable match.
• While our Homes are open, not every dog available for adoption will be onsite and available in person. You will notice some dogs are listed as ‘foster care’. This means that they are offsite with one of our amazing foster carers. If you are interested in this dog, please contact the Home directly to discuss suitability and a possible meet.
