Bruce

In these troubled times, all that we can be sure of is that Bruce is guaranteed not to bring you down.

“Bruce is a big, goofy boy with plenty of energy to burn,” staff say. “He loves to carry his blankets around in his mouth and enjoys playing in water.” What self-respecting Labrador doesn’t love a bit of water play?

Brucey Boy is energetic and on the large side, and hasn’t really learnt how to restrain himself when a burst of enthusiasm strikes. Until he gets his excitable urges under control, we want him to go to a family with kids aged at least 12 years old.

The Boss will need ongoing socialisation and a training refresher wouldn’t hurt, either. A beginner obedience course would be an excellent way for him to tackle those goals while bonding with his new humans.

Please ensure the below information, including the ‘please note’ section, is read in full if you are interested in viewing, meeting or adopting Bruce.

Tasmanian dogs need you

Dogs’ Homes of Tasmania receives no government funding. Dogs like Bruce get their second chance because somebody like you donated.

Even a $5 donation today can help save the next life. We wouldn’t be here for Tassie dogs without the generosity of our donors.

All donations currently matched — please donate now!

For the next 48 hours, a generous Tasmanian donor will MATCH every donation — dollar for dollar — up to $50,000. Please, dogs like Bruce are relying on you.

Energetic dynamo: Vibrant and spirited, exuberant energy levels, adventure seeking, thrives on activity and excitement.

If you are interested in a dog, please make a booking to visit the Home where that dog is located. We can’t guarantee that a particular dog will still be available at the time of your visit, as adoptions occur throughout the day. Our team updates the website as quickly as possible.

Your booking is simply an allocated time to view all of the dogs, and it allows us to ensure staff are available should you wish to have a meet and greet with a particular dog.

Please remember that if you are interested in adopting on the day, all household members — including any existing dogs — must attend the appointment. It’s vital that the dog meets everyone and gets along with them, and that the whole household is ready to welcome a new family member.

Please note:
• Rental agreements allowing dogs will be required for adoption into rental properties.
• Before adopting a dog, all members of your household must attend a meet and greet with the dog (including small children and existing dogs).
• Whilst the website is live and updates frequently, there is a chance that when you arrive a dog may already have been adopted by some-one else. Sorry, but we cannot put dogs on hold over the phone. You need to meet them first so that we can ensure a suitable match.
• While our Homes are open, not every dog available for adoption will be onsite and available in person. You will notice some dogs are listed as ‘foster care’. This means that they are offsite with one of our amazing foster carers. If you are interested in this dog, please contact the Home directly to discuss suitability and a possible meet.
