Tilby

Violet needed us. Right now, we need you.

In 1950, we made a promise to always be there for every dog that needs us. For Violet, that promise meant life-saving surgery and over $2,000 spent on care and medical expenses.

We need to raise $335,000 before June 30 to ensure we can continue providing care and veterinary treatment to every dog that needs us.

Tilby

Pretty Tilby looks to be overflowing with joie de vivre in every one of her photos. Check out that sensational smile!

She’s a Border Collie-Malamute x. “This girl has the energy of a Border Collie and the vocal cords of a Malamute,” staff say. Sounds entertaining. “She enjoys the beach and any water activities, and likes toys and using her brain like treat puzzles or Kongs. She’s an active girl who can zoom super-fast — when taking her pictures dirt and grass were flying everywhere!”

Tils has some training but would probably benefit from a refresher course. She is not suited for a home with small animals and livestock, and shouldn’t be given access to wildlife as she enjoys the thrill of the chase a little too much.

Please ensure the below information, including the ‘please note’ section, is read in full if you are interested in viewing, meeting or adopting Tilby.

Tasmanian dogs need you

Dogs’ Homes of Tasmania receives no government funding. Dogs like Tilby get their second chance because somebody like you donated.

Even a $5 donation today can help save the next life. We wouldn’t be here for Tassie dogs without the generosity of our donors.

All donations currently matched — please donate now!

For the next 48 hours, a generous Tasmanian donor will MATCH every donation — dollar for dollar — up to $50,000. Please, dogs like Tilby are relying on you.

Paw-fect match

Does your lifestyle and personality match Tilby?
Quiet type: Prefers a peaceful environment, content with solitude, not seeking constant interaction.

If you are interested in a dog, please make a booking to visit the Home where that dog is located. We can’t guarantee that a particular dog will still be available at the time of your visit, as adoptions occur throughout the day. Our team updates the website as quickly as possible.

Your booking is simply an allocated time to view all of the dogs, and it allows us to ensure staff are available should you wish to have a meet and greet with a particular dog.

Please remember that if you are interested in adopting on the day, all household members — including any existing dogs — must attend the appointment. It’s vital that the dog meets everyone and gets along with them, and that the whole household is ready to welcome a new family member.

Please note:
• Rental agreements allowing dogs will be required for adoption into rental properties.
• Before adopting a dog, all members of your household must attend a meet and greet with the dog (including small children and existing dogs).
• Whilst the website is live and updates frequently, there is a chance that when you arrive a dog may already have been adopted by some-one else. Sorry, but we cannot put dogs on hold over the phone. You need to meet them first so that we can ensure a suitable match.
• While our Homes are open, not every dog available for adoption will be onsite and available in person. You will notice some dogs are listed as ‘foster care’. This means that they are offsite with one of our amazing foster carers. If you are interested in this dog, please contact the Home directly to discuss suitability and a possible meet.
