Nova

Violet needed us. Right now, we need you.

In 1950, we made a promise to always be there for every dog that needs us. For Violet, that promise meant life-saving surgery and over $2,000 spent on care and medical expenses.

We need to raise $335,000 before June 30 to ensure we can continue providing care and veterinary treatment to every dog that needs us.

Nova

Please note: Nova is currently spending time in foster care which means that they will not be present when visiting your local Dogs’ Home.

Just think: if you adopt Nova and end up allowing her to rule the roost, you could at least blame it on the bossy Nova.

She’s a Mastiff-Staffy x who has been enjoying having a foster carer who works from home. “Nova has a lovely temperament at home,” they say. “She loves to snuggle on the couch but is happy on her own.” She enjoys trips to the beach and walks. However: “She is best suited to a quiet neighbourhood without lots of people or dogs to encounter on walks,” staff say.

“Nova can be worried by new things sometimes,” they say. “She needs a home with a consistent routine. She also requires a place with someone willing to continue her training and help with her socialisation — she has been paired up with yard buddies at our Hobart Home, but careful matchmaking is needed to ensure the right dog friend.” A dog with similar energy levels and play style could work.

We’re seeking an adults-only home for Nova, or a place where the offspring are at least 15 years old.

Please ensure the below information, including the ‘please note’ section, is read in full if you are interested in viewing, meeting or adopting Nova.

Tasmanian dogs need you

Dogs’ Homes of Tasmania receives no government funding. Dogs like Nova get their second chance because somebody like you donated.

Even a $5 donation today can help save the next life. We wouldn’t be here for Tassie dogs without the generosity of our donors.

All donations currently matched — please donate now!

For the next 48 hours, a generous Tasmanian donor will MATCH every donation — dollar for dollar — up to $50,000. Please, dogs like Nova are relying on you.

Paw-fect match

Does your lifestyle and personality match Nova?
Energetic dynamo: Vibrant and spirited, exuberant energy levels, adventure seeking, thrives on activity and excitement.

If you are interested in meeting or adopting Nova, please phone your local Dogs’ Home. Contact details for each of our locations can be found by clicking here.

As Nova is currently staying with a foster carer, they are not located on site and will not be present if you visit. This includes if you book a visit or meeting via our online booking system.  Nova will only be available to view or meet when prior arranged with our team over the phone.

Please note:
• Rental agreements allowing dogs will be required for adoption into rental properties.
• Before adopting a dog, all members of your household must attend a meet and greet with the dog (including small children and existing dogs).
• Whilst the website is live and updates frequently, there is a chance that when you arrive a dog may already have been adopted by some-one else. Sorry, but we cannot put dogs on hold over the phone. You need to meet them first so that we can ensure a suitable match.
• While our Homes are open, not every dog available for adoption will be onsite and available in person. You will notice some dogs are listed as ‘foster care’. This means that they are offsite with one of our amazing foster carers. If you are interested in this dog, please contact the Home directly to discuss suitability and a possible meet.
