Arlo

Arlo

Please note: Arlo is currently spending time in foster care which means that they will not be present when visiting your local Dogs’ Home.

There’s something about Arlo. At first glance he doesn’t seem that special, but if you focus on his endearing face, you’ll see he has an undefinable “It” quality, a certain je ne sais quoi. He’s like the Pedro Pascal of the dog world.

His surrender form states that he’s bit of a Heinz, a German Shepherd-Kelpie-Staffy-Shar Pei x. We’re told he knows a few commands and is “very enthusiastic” about shaking paws.

“Arlo really enjoys human company,” staff say. He needs to go to a quiet home where there’s a solid routine in place without too many comings and goings, as he’s not a fan of busy environments.

His foster carer says he loves his toys and runs around the house with them. He’s a champion snorer who is equally enamoured with some toy-based zoomies or turning into a spud on the couch.

Please ensure the below information, including the ‘please note’ section, is read in full if you are interested in viewing, meeting or adopting Arlo.

Tasmanian dogs need you

Even a $5 donation today can help save the next life. We wouldn’t be here for Tassie dogs without the generosity of our donors.

For the next 48 hours, a generous Tasmanian donor will MATCH every donation — dollar for dollar — up to $50,000. Please, dogs like Arlo are relying on you.

Does your lifestyle and personality match Arlo?
Peaceful companion: Loves a quiet, chilled home with a predictable routine.

If you are interested in meeting or adopting Arlo, please phone your local Dogs’ Home. Contact details for each of our locations can be found by clicking here.

As Arlo is currently staying with a foster carer, they are not located on site and will not be present if you visit. This includes if you book a visit or meeting via our online booking system.  Arlo will only be available to view or meet when prior arranged with our team over the phone.

Please note:
• Rental agreements allowing dogs will be required for adoption into rental properties.
• Before adopting a dog, all members of your household must attend a meet and greet with the dog (including small children and existing dogs).
• Whilst the website is live and updates frequently, there is a chance that when you arrive a dog may already have been adopted by some-one else. Sorry, but we cannot put dogs on hold over the phone. You need to meet them first so that we can ensure a suitable match.
• While our Homes are open, not every dog available for adoption will be onsite and available in person. You will notice some dogs are listed as ‘foster care’. This means that they are offsite with one of our amazing foster carers. If you are interested in this dog, please contact the Home directly to discuss suitability and a possible meet.
