Athena

Athena

Please note: Athena is currently spending time in foster care which means that they will not be present when visiting your local Dogs’ Home.

Ethereal Athena has tired of all the drama atop Mount Olympus and has ascended to the level of us mere mortals in her search for a less dysfunctional family.

This soon-to-be domestic goddess is a Staffy-Mastiff x. “Athena is very sweet and loves a good belly rub,” staff say. “She is friendly and happy, and enjoys affection, but prefers to have company and gets upset when left alone.” She must go to a home where she he has another dog to stave off her lonely cowgirl blues.

Athena isn’t suitable for a home with livestock or small pets such as cats. She needs training to control her excitable urges and, until she gets that training on board, we recommend a home with children at least 12 years old.

Please ensure the below information, including the ‘please note’ section, is read in full if you are interested in viewing, meeting or adopting Athena.

Tasmanian dogs need you

Dogs’ Homes of Tasmania receives no government funding. Dogs like Athena get their second chance because somebody like you donated.

Even a $5 donation today can help save the next life. We wouldn’t be here for Tassie dogs without the generosity of our donors.

All donations currently matched — please donate now!

For the next 48 hours, a generous Tasmanian donor will MATCH every donation — dollar for dollar — up to $50,000. Please, dogs like Athena are relying on you.

If you are interested in meeting or adopting Athena, please phone your local Dogs’ Home. Contact details for each of our locations can be found by clicking here.

As Athena is currently staying with a foster carer, they are not located on site and will not be present if you visit. This includes if you book a visit or meeting via our online booking system.  Athena will only be available to view or meet when prior arranged with our team over the phone.

Please note:
• Rental agreements allowing dogs will be required for adoption into rental properties.
• Before adopting a dog, all members of your household must attend a meet and greet with the dog (including small children and existing dogs).
• Whilst the website is live and updates frequently, there is a chance that when you arrive a dog may already have been adopted by some-one else. Sorry, but we cannot put dogs on hold over the phone. You need to meet them first so that we can ensure a suitable match.
• While our Homes are open, not every dog available for adoption will be onsite and available in person. You will notice some dogs are listed as ‘foster care’. This means that they are offsite with one of our amazing foster carers. If you are interested in this dog, please contact the Home directly to discuss suitability and a possible meet.
