Dusty

Dusty

Does your life seem a little dull, a bit musty and somewhat dusty? Our Dusty is here to bring a shining light into your home, dispelling any hint of gloom.

“Young Dusty has never met a piece of cheese or Devon he didn’t like, which will help in his training journey,” staff joke. “He is a very handsome young yellow fellow who has a zest for life and a glint in his eyes.” Someone’s giving the adoptions reporter a run for their money on the prose front.

“He enjoys a good romp with his doggie friends and has been spending yard time with our black Labrador, Bandit. He has started learning scent work as enrichment while in our care, so that could be an activity for his new family to give a go with him.”

Dusty will need training to learn some manners as his enthusiasm can run away with him. Until he gets that training on board, we want him to go to a home with kids aged at least 15 years old.

Please ensure the below information, including the ‘please note’ section, is read in full if you are interested in viewing, meeting or adopting Dusty.

Tasmanian dogs need you

Dogs’ Homes of Tasmania receives no government funding. Dogs like Dusty get their second chance because somebody like you donated.

Even a $5 donation today can help save the next life. We wouldn’t be here for Tassie dogs without the generosity of our donors.

All donations currently matched — please donate now!

For the next 48 hours, a generous Tasmanian donor will MATCH every donation — dollar for dollar — up to $50,000. Please, dogs like Dusty are relying on you.

Does your lifestyle and personality match Dusty?
Cheeky rascal: Mischievous and clever, keeps you on your toes with playful antics and personality.

If you are interested in a dog, please make a booking to visit the Home where that dog is located. We can’t guarantee that a particular dog will still be available at the time of your visit, as adoptions occur throughout the day. Our team updates the website as quickly as possible.

Your booking is simply an allocated time to view all of the dogs, and it allows us to ensure staff are available should you wish to have a meet and greet with a particular dog.

Please remember that if you are interested in adopting on the day, all household members — including any existing dogs — must attend the appointment. It’s vital that the dog meets everyone and gets along with them, and that the whole household is ready to welcome a new family member.

Please note:
• Rental agreements allowing dogs will be required for adoption into rental properties.
• Before adopting a dog, all members of your household must attend a meet and greet with the dog (including small children and existing dogs).
• Whilst the website is live and updates frequently, there is a chance that when you arrive a dog may already have been adopted by some-one else. Sorry, but we cannot put dogs on hold over the phone. You need to meet them first so that we can ensure a suitable match.
• While our Homes are open, not every dog available for adoption will be onsite and available in person. You will notice some dogs are listed as ‘foster care’. This means that they are offsite with one of our amazing foster carers. If you are interested in this dog, please contact the Home directly to discuss suitability and a possible meet.
