Ferdinand pups

Ferdinand pups

Please note: Ferdinand pups is currently spending time in foster care which means that they will not be present when visiting your local Dogs’ Home.

The deluge of puppies at our Homes around the state seems never ending, and film stars Ferdinand and Guapo have joined the flood. They are German Shorthaired Pointer-Smithfield x boys who are in foster care. Ferdinand is the fellow with a white muzzle.

“They enjoy human company and cuddles,” staff say. “They are being socialised with other dogs, cats, horses and chickens. They have good recall, mostly because they want to follow you around all the time.” D’awwwww. “They are sleeping well overnight and their toilet training is progressing.”

Speaking of training, we highly recommend puppy preschool for Ferdie and Guapie. They can learn the “boot camp basics” of obedience while continuing to get that all-important socialisation with people and other dogs. And if your preferred vet has puppy classes, your dog will think it’s a fabulous place to go, making vaccination day easier for all.

Please ensure the below information, including the ‘please note’ section, is read in full if you are interested in viewing, meeting or adopting Ferdinand pups.

If you are interested in meeting or adopting Ferdinand pups, please phone your local Dogs’ Home. Contact details for each of our locations can be found by clicking here.

As Ferdinand pups is currently staying with a foster carer, they are not located on site and will not be present if you visit. This includes if you book a visit or meeting via our online booking system.  Ferdinand pups will only be available to view or meet when prior arranged with our team over the phone.

Please note:
• Rental agreements allowing dogs will be required for adoption into rental properties.
• Before adopting a dog, all members of your household must attend a meet and greet with the dog (including small children and existing dogs).
• Whilst the website is live and updates frequently, there is a chance that when you arrive a dog may already have been adopted by some-one else. Sorry, but we cannot put dogs on hold over the phone. You need to meet them first so that we can ensure a suitable match.
• While our Homes are open, not every dog available for adoption will be onsite and available in person. You will notice some dogs are listed as ‘foster care’. This means that they are offsite with one of our amazing foster carers. If you are interested in this dog, please contact the Home directly to discuss suitability and a possible meet.
