Dogs called Jack always remind us of the ongoing debate about whether Rose could have shared that darn door with him in the movie Titantic.
But we digress. Our Jack is a Maremma-Great Pyrenees who we’re told enjoys cuddles with his favourite human, and likes to munch on carrots and apple slices. He lived on a large property that must have been at a good elevation as he was a fan of a frolic in the snow. That would have made for some impressive winter camouflage.
Jack slept with the pigs and chooks in his old place, a classic Maremma move. However, he shouldn’t have access to wildlife and wild birds, or pocket pets. He lived with another Maremma in the past but hasn’t been around any other dogs, so he will needs ongoing socialisation with them. Thoughtful matchmaking with dogs who have a similar play style and energy levels will be the way to go.
Please ensure the below information, including the ‘please note’ section, is read in full if you are interested in viewing, meeting or adopting Jack.

Does your lifestyle and personality match Jack?
If you are interested in a dog, please make a booking to visit the Home where that dog is located. We can’t guarantee that a particular dog will still be available at the time of your visit, as adoptions occur throughout the day. Our team updates the website as quickly as possible.
Your booking is simply an allocated time to view all of the dogs, and it allows us to ensure staff are available should you wish to have a meet and greet with a particular dog.
Please remember that if you are interested in adopting on the day, all household members — including any existing dogs — must attend the appointment. It’s vital that the dog meets everyone and gets along with them, and that the whole household is ready to welcome a new family member.
Please note:
• Rental agreements allowing dogs will be required for adoption into rental properties.
• Before adopting a dog, all members of your household must attend a meet and greet with the dog (including small children and existing dogs).
• Whilst the website is live and updates frequently, there is a chance that when you arrive a dog may already have been adopted by some-one else. Sorry, but we cannot put dogs on hold over the phone. You need to meet them first so that we can ensure a suitable match.
• While our Homes are open, not every dog available for adoption will be onsite and available in person. You will notice some dogs are listed as ‘foster care’. This means that they are offsite with one of our amazing foster carers. If you are interested in this dog, please contact the Home directly to discuss suitability and a possible meet.
