Monty

Monty

Please note: Monty is currently spending time in foster care which means that they will not be present when visiting your local Dogs’ Home.

Marvellous Monty looks like quite the jaunty little chap. Someone should buy him a sailing cap and christen him Captain Jaunty. Aye-aye!

He may be hitting 12 years of age next month, but he’s not letting that slow him down. “Monty still has plenty of ‘go-go’ in him,” staff say. Does that mean he can drive a Goggomobil? “He slept with his human in his old place and is used to an owner who was home a lot of the time, so we would like to find him new owner with a similar lifestyle.”

Staff tell us he likes playing with toys when the mood takes him. He hasn’t lived with any other pets or animals but he did have a successful meet and greet with another small dog in our care. He’s recently had a dental overhaul so that cost has been covered.

Please ensure the below information, including the ‘please note’ section, is read in full if you are interested in viewing, meeting or adopting Monty.

Tasmanian dogs need you

Dogs’ Homes of Tasmania receives no government funding. Dogs like Monty get their second chance because somebody like you donated.

Even a $5 donation today can help save the next life. We wouldn’t be here for Tassie dogs without the generosity of our donors.

All donations currently matched — please donate now!

For the next 48 hours, a generous Tasmanian donor will MATCH every donation — dollar for dollar — up to $50,000. Please, dogs like Monty are relying on you.

Does your lifestyle and personality match Monty?
Velcro dog: Deeply attached to their humans and always close by. Won’t enjoy being alone for long.

If you are interested in meeting or adopting Monty, please phone your local Dogs’ Home. Contact details for each of our locations can be found by clicking here.

As Monty is currently staying with a foster carer, they are not located on site and will not be present if you visit. This includes if you book a visit or meeting via our online booking system.  Monty will only be available to view or meet when prior arranged with our team over the phone.

Please note:
• Rental agreements allowing dogs will be required for adoption into rental properties.
• Before adopting a dog, all members of your household must attend a meet and greet with the dog (including small children and existing dogs).
• Whilst the website is live and updates frequently, there is a chance that when you arrive a dog may already have been adopted by some-one else. Sorry, but we cannot put dogs on hold over the phone. You need to meet them first so that we can ensure a suitable match.
• While our Homes are open, not every dog available for adoption will be onsite and available in person. You will notice some dogs are listed as ‘foster care’. This means that they are offsite with one of our amazing foster carers. If you are interested in this dog, please contact the Home directly to discuss suitability and a possible meet.
