Piper

Piper

Pretty little Piper’s initial adoption fell through, but it’s no one’s “fault” — and she’s such an appealing little girl we’re sure she’ll find peace in her forever family soon.

She’s a Staffy-Bulldog x who was previously in foster care with one of her siblings. “Piper is confident, active and outgoing — a busy little girl,” staff say. “She has grown so much in two weeks in foster care, and has been learning a lot (with lots of playing as well).” We expect Piper to grow to be a medium to large dog.

As with all our youngsters, we strongly recommend puppy preschool for Piper, who is still at a nibbly stage – she doesn’t know her little teeth are sharp! She can learn the “boot camp basics” of obedience training and overcome her teething troubles while getting vital socialisation with people and other pups.

Please ensure the below information, including the ‘please note’ section, is read in full if you are interested in viewing, meeting or adopting Piper.

Tasmanian dogs need you

Dogs’ Homes of Tasmania receives no government funding. Dogs like Piper get their second chance because somebody like you donated.

Even a $5 donation today can help save the next life. We wouldn’t be here for Tassie dogs without the generosity of our donors.

All donations currently matched — please donate now!

For the next 48 hours, a generous Tasmanian donor will MATCH every donation — dollar for dollar — up to $50,000. Please, dogs like Piper are relying on you.

Does your lifestyle and personality match Piper?
Energetic dynamo: Vibrant and spirited, exuberant energy levels, adventure seeking, thrives on activity and excitement.

If you are interested in a dog, please make a booking to visit the Home where that dog is located. We can’t guarantee that a particular dog will still be available at the time of your visit, as adoptions occur throughout the day. Our team updates the website as quickly as possible.

Your booking is simply an allocated time to view all of the dogs, and it allows us to ensure staff are available should you wish to have a meet and greet with a particular dog.

Please remember that if you are interested in adopting on the day, all household members — including any existing dogs — must attend the appointment. It’s vital that the dog meets everyone and gets along with them, and that the whole household is ready to welcome a new family member.

Please note:
• Rental agreements allowing dogs will be required for adoption into rental properties.
• Before adopting a dog, all members of your household must attend a meet and greet with the dog (including small children and existing dogs).
• Whilst the website is live and updates frequently, there is a chance that when you arrive a dog may already have been adopted by some-one else. Sorry, but we cannot put dogs on hold over the phone. You need to meet them first so that we can ensure a suitable match.
• While our Homes are open, not every dog available for adoption will be onsite and available in person. You will notice some dogs are listed as ‘foster care’. This means that they are offsite with one of our amazing foster carers. If you are interested in this dog, please contact the Home directly to discuss suitability and a possible meet.
