“I just love him so much. Boston is my life.”
Thirteen years ago, Boston embarked on his new life with Sarah after being adopted from our Hobart Home. He had been found as a stray, wandering the streets of Claremont.
Now 16 years old, Boston might be undergoing hydrotherapy for his old bones, stairs have been replaced by ramps, and his favourite beds have been pimped with orthotic beds underneath, but as far as he’s concerned, life is still very grand indeed.
“He’s still loving life,” Sarah tells us. And she remains grateful to the Homes: “Thanks for giving me the gift of the most important little man in my life.”
“He threatens to call you guys occasionally if his farmers’ market dog treats run low but otherwise I think he knows he lives in luxury,” Sarah laughs.
“He loves sunbaking, beach swims, cat siblings, teddy bears that double as pillows and chew toys, plus sleeping under doona piles. He still can’t stand other dogs but now loves a pat from any tradie after being afraid of men when he was first adopted.” It’s amazing how a loving home can heal a canine heart.
“One of his first slip-ups was chewing the antenna off a fire radio in the work ute, but his career highlight was being gifted a doggie high-vis vest by a dozer driver,” Sarah says. “His days of field work are behind him now, trading it in for the working from home life as he (and I) got older.”
Boston even made an appearance in our social media Winter Warmers competition last year, snuggled up in a bed that he dragged from the couch to the floor.
