Boris

Boris

Please note: Boris is currently spending time in foster care which means that they will not be present when visiting your local Dogs’ Home.

Boris has come all the way from Russia to showcase his basketball skills — he gets nothing but nyet on every three-pointer.

This gloriously happy guy is a bit of a three-pointer himself: his dad is a Mastiff x and mum a Staffy-Shar Pei x. We predict he’ll grow up to be a large fellow. “He was initially shy but has come out of his shell and blossomed into a fun-loving boy,” staff say. Stuff like this gladdens the heart.

He’s in foster care where the news is he loves affection and cuddles. He’s enjoyed the company of his carer’s dogs, both small and large, which has been excellent socialisation for him. They’ve also been great company when his carer’s been out, and Borrie might like a canine buddy in his new home.

He’s been fine around his carer’s chooks and goats, although with supervision. His basic training is coming along nicely as well. We always recommend puppy preschool for our young dogs, but if Boris is too “old” for preschool, a beginner obedience course will do just as well.

Please ensure the below information, including the ‘please note’ section, is read in full if you are interested in viewing, meeting or adopting Boris.

Tasmanian dogs need you

Dogs’ Homes of Tasmania receives no government funding. Dogs like Boris get their second chance because somebody like you donated.

Even a $5 donation today can help save the next life. We wouldn’t be here for Tassie dogs without the generosity of our donors.

All donations currently matched — please donate now!

For the next 48 hours, a generous Tasmanian donor will MATCH every donation — dollar for dollar — up to $50,000. Please, dogs like Boris are relying on you.

Friendly, happy: Sociable and cheerful, at ease with companionship, exudes positivity.

If you are interested in meeting or adopting Boris, please phone your local Dogs’ Home. Contact details for each of our locations can be found by clicking here.

As Boris is currently staying with a foster carer, they are not located on site and will not be present if you visit. This includes if you book a visit or meeting via our online booking system.  Boris will only be available to view or meet when prior arranged with our team over the phone.

Please note:
• Rental agreements allowing dogs will be required for adoption into rental properties.
• Before adopting a dog, all members of your household must attend a meet and greet with the dog (including small children and existing dogs).
• Whilst the website is live and updates frequently, there is a chance that when you arrive a dog may already have been adopted by some-one else. Sorry, but we cannot put dogs on hold over the phone. You need to meet them first so that we can ensure a suitable match.
• While our Homes are open, not every dog available for adoption will be onsite and available in person. You will notice some dogs are listed as ‘foster care’. This means that they are offsite with one of our amazing foster carers. If you are interested in this dog, please contact the Home directly to discuss suitability and a possible meet.
