We have it on good authority from known Dogs’ Homes puppy fans Crowded House that everywhere you go, you always take the weather with you. Meet our “weather pups” — Misty, Snow and Rain are the girls, with Sunny the only boy. We kinda wish one was called Sheep Graziers Warning because that would be quite Tasmanian.
These little rippers are Staffy-Chihuahua-Jack Russell Terrier crosses. We don’t have a pic of them all together because the resulting storm front would have been too terrible to contemplate. “They love playing with toys and no amount is too many,” staff say. “They also love to explore and get into mischief — one of their favourite games is to chase each other through the play tunnel.
“They have been in foster care making progress with toilet training and sit. Like all puppies they will need a family with the time to dedicate to them.” Indeed! As always, we highly recommend puppy preschool for these kiddos to continue their training and get vital socialisation with people and other pups.
Please ensure the below information, including the ‘please note’ section, is read in full if you are interested in viewing, meeting or adopting Weather pups.
Tasmanian dogs need you
Dogs’ Homes of Tasmania receives no government funding. Dogs like Weather pups get their second chance because somebody like you donated.
Even a $5 donation today can help save the next life. We wouldn’t be here for Tassie dogs without the generosity of our donors.
All donations currently matched — please donate now!
For the next 48 hours, a generous Tasmanian donor will MATCH every donation — dollar for dollar — up to $50,000. Please, dogs like Weather pups are relying on you.

Does your lifestyle and personality match Weather pups?
If you are interested in a dog, please make a booking to visit the Home where that dog is located. We can’t guarantee that a particular dog will still be available at the time of your visit, as adoptions occur throughout the day. Our team updates the website as quickly as possible.
Your booking is simply an allocated time to view all of the dogs, and it allows us to ensure staff are available should you wish to have a meet and greet with a particular dog.
Please remember that if you are interested in adopting on the day, all household members — including any existing dogs — must attend the appointment. It’s vital that the dog meets everyone and gets along with them, and that the whole household is ready to welcome a new family member.
Please note:
• Rental agreements allowing dogs will be required for adoption into rental properties.
• Before adopting a dog, all members of your household must attend a meet and greet with the dog (including small children and existing dogs).
• Whilst the website is live and updates frequently, there is a chance that when you arrive a dog may already have been adopted by some-one else. Sorry, but we cannot put dogs on hold over the phone. You need to meet them first so that we can ensure a suitable match.
• While our Homes are open, not every dog available for adoption will be onsite and available in person. You will notice some dogs are listed as ‘foster care’. This means that they are offsite with one of our amazing foster carers. If you are interested in this dog, please contact the Home directly to discuss suitability and a possible meet.
